Tonight discovered that the problem occurs in some programs and not others.

eg cuts out on top gear at 1.05, but can watch the whole of dog borstal.

Mac & PC
Firefox & Safari
6.2.6.E
According to home hub: 6.4meg
Oxford area

Bingo! Top Gear jammed at 1 min 3 sec. I lost all function in the hub - had to power cycle it to get access to anything at all.

Tomorrow I can try my spare hub on 6.2.2.6 to see if it fails on that firmware. (Anyone else is welcome to try, or with a different router, to see if it is hub related)

Don't see why BT could not have done a few experiments like this, but we are getting closer

Well this morning the same Top Gear program plays OK on 6.2.6.E, 6.2.2.6, both using Firefox and IE7. Last night it jammed at the same time as the previous poster's Mac

Will try again tonight at peak times. It has to be identifyable if enough of us test it. 2 days to go!

Just a quick note to say I've asked our tech team to have a look into this and they've asked if anyone that is having this issue could they please give us the following information

Home Hub Firmware Version
Operating System (e.g. Windows XP, Mac OS X Leopard 10.5 etc)
Browser Software (Opera, I.E. 7, Firefox 2.0.0.12 etc)
The URL or name of the iPlayer content you're having problems viewing and when during the recording the problems happen.
Time the issue occurs
Broadband Speed
Location (Exchange if you know it)

Thanks to everyone who's already given us this info.

This Post was first raised on April 24th and has seemed to be ignored by BT Broadband support, despite it being a common occurance with users,

Now, Jarviser (and rightly so) asks other users to post in with details if it has happened to them so that WE (But mainly Jarviser) , the board members can try and work out the problem..

Its only NOW that BT technical support decide to Wade in after a board member decides to work it out for himself.

Broadband connection details:
Downstream 5,536 Kbps
Upstream 448 Kbps

Tried several times, but the hub resets after a minute or two of playing!
I tried again tonight around 22.00 (the movie Doctors) and again the hub reset.

I would appreciate if there will be some solution soon, because I am facing this problem for a long period.

Cheers!!

I have not beeen able to repeat the problem - I even tried fast forwarding to increase the buffering. Doctors played fine at 23:50, and Top gear still OK.

The only thing I omitted to say was that the rotating cursor on the screen (which usually shows buffering) was rotating on a partly grayed iPlayer screen whilst the hub was "stuck", presumaby streaming had stopped getting to the PC. It did not reset itself like the previous poster's hub, it just needed a restart.

I hope we get more contributions otherwise there will be too much variation to make a decent diagnosis on what is probably a combination problem.

We need more examples of failures to help BT on this one, now that they have asked us to help.

Well, it worked yesterday evening (Top Gear), whereas the evening before it didn't. And still working this morning.

So either well done you've fixed it, or the problem is intermittent.

Am still having major issues with my home hub. Had 7 months with no issues in my previous place and no end of problems here. Have been told by the people on the phone that i'm currently in the optimization period....never had that in my last place...if it doesn't change soon i might start thinking of switching to someone else...

Home Hub Firmware Version 6.2.6E
Operating System Mac OS X 10.4.11
Browser Software Safari
iplayer TV programmes only, intermittent with random programmes, today it's Question Time
Time the issue occurs No set times
Broadband Speed 2912 downstream, 448 upstream
Location Hastings

I've had this problem on and off since December, although it went away for a while recently (March/April) after (I thought) a Safari update, but it has returned today. I stress it's only with iplayer TV programmes. Sometimes after 3 or 4 tries it works. I rang BT and they blamed the BBC software as nothing else (internet, email, embedded video, youtube etc etc) is a problem for me. Refused to replace the hub. I'm considering buying a different hub.
BT you need to sort this. After my contract runs out I'm off somewhere else!

Just started happening recently, within the last week, for me. Truly annoying when you are simply attempting to watch a programme and the whole internet crashes.

Happens to me on my connection and to my parents on their connection. Very VERY annoying, especially when I called the customer "help" desk to try and resolve it. There is no good reason why data from a particular website should bring down my internet connection....

Anyways - hope you BT guys can fix this soon - as has already been said, this is not a glowing issue for BT, and this, combined with the dreadful customer service is reason enough for me to recommend any other ISP.
Here's my info...

Firmware: 6.2.6.E
OS: Windows XP, Vista, Mac OS 10.4 and 10.5
Browser Software: Firefox 2.0.0.14, IE7, Opera, and Safari 3.1.1
iPlayer content: All iPlayer
Occurs: All the time after a couple of minutes of iPlayer stream. As a result it doesn't crash when iPlayer content plays in a news.bbc.co.uk article as seldom are these video clips long enough.
Broadband Speed: Not sure...we're all on BT Total Option 3.
Location: Leicester and Newcastle upon Tyne.

Looking forward to a speedy resolution.
